We are pleased to announce the introduction of the Irish Salsa Awards 2011. These awards are an opportunity for you, the salsa dancers of Ireland, to acknowledge those who you feel contribute most to the Irish Salsa Community by way of teaching, Dj’ing, events, etc. Announcement of the winners and presentation of the awards will take place on the 2nd April 2011 in the Garda Club, Dublin. Details of the evening and ticket prices are on the “About” page. While it was our aim to host these awards in November 2010, this proved to be too ambitions in an effort to arrange awards and find a venue.

Voting will take pace in two stages, firstly we need your nominations under a number of categories as can be seen on the nominations page. The nomination process will close on the 11th of March 2011 at which point voting will commence based on the top 5 nominees in each category. Voting will close at midnight on the 31st March. All voting will be verified by an independant adjudicator and only the winner of each category will be made public.

All you need to do is nominate you favorite teacher, DJ, event, etc., if you have not already done so, by going to the nominations tab at the top of this page. Once the nomination process has closed you will be emailed with details of the voting process.

Please note – Important:

You do not have to nominate in every category, only nominate in those categories you feel you wish to contribute to and leave the rest blank.

You are nominating your favorite teacher in the teaching categories, not the club / organisation they work for / represent.

Nominations for the “Regional Categories” are applicable to teachers who regularly teach in that region. These categoies should not be used for occasional guest teachers from other regions. Nominations for teachers in a region where they do not maintain a regular presence may be discounted.

The “Best Event” Category is aimed at organised functions, such as; congresses, festivals, one day workshops, etc. Nominations for a regular club night will be deemed invalid. It is important that you give the name of the event itself or a name it is known by and not the name of the venue it is held in.

There is only one nomination / vote per person and you should have first hand experience of that persons teaching, DJing, performing, etc. Any blatant attempts to use multiple email addresses or influence the voting will result in those votes being eliminated.

Nominations / Votes are not valid until your submission is confirmed by email.
